The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word yuj, which is often translated ‘to join, to unite or to connect.’ It is about the coming together of the mind, body and spirit, about connecting to ourselves and others, and is about quieting the mind.
Yoga has evolved over many years to become a multifaceted practice with many different forms and methods. The Yoga Melissa teaches is a form of Hatha Yoga with an emphasis placed on developmental movement patterns that support our alignment and movement. Through her teaching Melissa encourages students to build their own inner reference system to guide their Yoga practice. All that is required in Melissa’s classes is a smile and willingness to work with your Self.
There are numerous health benefits to practicing Yoga, including lowered blood pressure, stress reduction and increased flexibility, and usually these health benefits are what initially draws people to Yoga classes. However there is so much more going on… other benefits include feeling more harmonious, balanced and complete, and this is what keeps people coming back again and again.
