Melissa tried Yoga for the first time in 2005… the very tangible and positive effects of the practice had her hooked. She went on to study extensively with Donna Farhi, attending numerous workshops, retreats and a Teacher Training. Melissa has assisted Donna at a number of her workshops in New Zealand and Australia.
Melissa has been teaching Yoga to the North Canterbury community over the past 8 years. Her desire to support others in their pursuit of health and happiness fueled the creation of the Manaia Wellbeing Centre in Fernside in 2013. Unfortunately the Centre was not sustainable and Melissa is currently enjoying the ease of sharing Yoga from the Rangiora Showgrounds.
Melissa completed a Level I Teacher Training in iRest® Yoga Nidra with Dr Richard Miller in 2014 and incorporates this practice into her Restorative Yoga classes. She has also trained in CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute, and offers CST to support people on their healing journey’s. In 2018 Melissa will continue on with her CST studies, completing a SomatoEmotional Release training.
Melissa is passionate about Yoga and this is reflected in her teaching. Students often comment on the positive effects they experience in their body, mind and spirit. Melissa creates a welcoming atmosphere in her classes and enjoys the process of learning and growing with her students.
Melissa will be finishing her 200hr Teacher Training Certification in Auckland this October.
